Closing Workshop: “Retos del Financiamiento Climáticoen Municipios Mexicanos” (Challenges of Climate Finance in Mexican Municipalities) in Mexico City
As a closing event of our research project “The Urbanization of Global Climate Finance” for the University of Zurich, we will organize a workshop focused on the challenges of climate finance on February 20-21, 2025 in Mexico City. We aim to bring together a diverse group of participants, including development practitioners, researchers from Mexican and Swiss universities, local experts, government officials, representatives of international cooperation agencies and climate activists.
We seek to foster an equitable and enriching dialogue around current challenges in the implementation of climate finance. Drawing on the knowledge and experience of all participants to develop a detailed workshop report that will help participants and stakeholders from around the country to address these challenges more efficiently and effectively.
The workshop will be in English and Spanish, and topics to be addressed include: legal and regulatory frameworks; resource and funding allocation issues; institutional and technical capacity challenges; best practices in sustainable development; the role of investors and the private sector; and cross-sector and multi-level collaboration.
